Alma

Porcelain Service Set

Alma is inspired on the Peruvian woman from the Andes of Peru. The symbol of Alma set is inspired on the woman of the Colca Valley. This rosette is a very particular family symbol which distinguishes single, married and widowed women. This symbol and the hat come from the time of the conquest, it was brought by the Spaniards. The new mestizos of the time adopted it as their own.

The woman’s of the Colca Valley wear it with great pride, as, over the years, it became part of their culture. The women of the Andes in Peru are very strong, many of them are the head of the family, working their land, taking care of their children and feeding their families. They are a very important part of Andean society and this is a way of recognising them.
